National Cadet League

Following on from a strong representation in the 2017/18 National Cadet League and taking the Silver award last year, with the  introduction of 2 new players we believe the team can achieve a good  performance for 2018/19.

A number of players have moved on into higher age groups and the loss of our top player to the England squad, we have everything to go for this year, we have a strong squad representing Sanford Cadets.

Sanford Cadets got off their 2018/19 campaign in great style beating Cheltenham A  5-4 Hayate winning all of his games and Tom Fletcher and Adam Reeves playing for first time getting their first win under their belt.

Next up was Evesham B  Sanford were to strong coming out 9-0 winners All players winning all of their matches.

We played a strong Cleeve & Claversham side who were in the top flight last year but all players fought hard and most of games went to a decider,  getting pipped on the net and edges. losing 8-1 this was frustrating for players.

All in it was a good start for the team and it was played in a good spirit with teams complimenting one another.

Well done everyone

The team started with a  5-4 win against Cheltenham A then they played the favourites SGS but lost 2-7 on Day 2 lost 8-1 which was a better result. We then beat CLeeve and Caversham 5-4 who we lost to 8-1 on Day 2.

This was tremendous performance by the team it was all down to the final match and  Tom Fletcher rose to the occasion and played their No 1 seed Oliver H who had a average of 91.7% this was a pulsating five setter and Tom came out of top which gave Sanford the win.

The final match was against Nailsworth Phoenix A who had a top 100 National Cadet player who was too good on the day, but the players enjoyed playing against this team, the players lost 7-2.

The players and family supported one another throughout the day and the players cannot wait for Day 4 on the 24th of March.
